Drama Recognized at Macy Awards

On Sunday May 27, the cast of El Rancho's musical THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN attended the 42nd Annual MACY (Musical Arts Commendation for Youth) Awards ceremony. They had the honor of performing a four minute cutting of the show on stage of the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Cast members Natalie Sepulveda, Sergio Castenada, Daniel Rickley, Jesus Flores, Desire Figueroa, Emma Donlucas and Jeana Hernandez won Bright Spot Awards. Hazel Flores won a Special Recognition Award. Paul James Espitia and Isaac Rodriguez won Achievement Awards. Nina Marquez, Joshua Forniss and Crystal Valdez won Outstanding Achievement Awards. The entire production won the highly coveted Childress Award, named after MACY founders John and Lee Childress. Hazel Flores, Elysse Mendoza and Veronica Scianni each won scholarships as well!
