Donate Used Books to Raise Money
for a School in Uganda!
Ms. Kerr's study skills class was asked to pick a cause that they wanted to get involved in around the world. They chose to get involved with Invisible Children. Invisible children works to free the child soldiers in Uganda and supply them with education. The cool thing about Invisible Children is that it's focus is having young people help other young people and be the change in their own generation. The class learned about the ongoing 25+ year war and the horrible things that were done to children their own age. The class wanted to do something to help the students their own age. They chose to do a used book drive. The purpose of the drive is to collect books that will then be shipped to Better World Books free of charge. Once the books arrive at Better World Books the company sells them online and the proceeds made by the company go to Uganda to help build a school for the young people getting saved from being child soldiers. It is an easy and fun way to help change a generation.
There are many ways you can help! The best way is to donate gently used books. You can donate them at El Rancho High School. There will be a collection bin in the office where you can drop them off. You can also send them to school and drop them off in room S1. You can donate books up until January 13th.
