Call to order
SSC Chairperson, David Angelo called to order the regular meeting at 5:00 PM in the school library.

Approval of minutes from last meeting
School site council members individually read the September and October meeting minutes. Dr. Aurora Villon motioned/ James Halley 2nd the minutes. Minutes approved with corrections.

- 10/25 Homecoming games
- 10/26 Blue Pride day (Buildings decorated “Around the World” theme)
- 10/27 Homecoming Carnival (ASB sold Cold Stone ice cream)
- 10/28 Blue Pride Fashion show and Night Pep Rally (“Viva Los Seniors” won class competition)
- 10/29 Homecoming – Football game vs. Cal High. Homecoming queen Karissa Aguilar. Homecoming dance was successful.
- Canned food drive kicked off. Part of class competition. Goal is to collect 7,000 lbs. Can food collection ends on Nov. 10th.
- Blood drive on Dec 3rd.
DAC report-; David Angelo reported the October 20th was well attended.
- Purpose, roles and responsibilities of DAC were reviewed
- Needs assessment was conducted for future parent workshops
- ERUSD was awarded a 1.4 million “Safe Schools” grant.
Special Education- Mr. Gutierrez reported
- SOFFA Club made $140.00 at Homecoming Carnival which will be applied towards a spring field trip.
- Two Students in the SH programs were part of the Homecoming court: Mark Avila and Valerie Perez.
- Attendance PLC has linked with our department to come up with ideas to increase attendance through positive re-enforcement.
- SPED PLC will be interviewing Gen ED Teachers who are successfully including students who receive Special Education services with the goal to produce a best practices hand out or presentation.

EIA SCE/ EIA LEP Mr. Genis reported
- Pique will be offered again. Initial session for 9th graders and new follow up session for parents that took the course previously. Pique will run from January 27th 2011 to March 24th 2011. There will be a morning (Spanish) session and evening (Spanish and English) session. Cost per person is $90.00 to be funded from EIA/SCE. Pat Gomez motioned and Mr. Gutierrez seconded approval of for Pique program to be funded from EIA/SCE funds. SSC unanimously approved motion.

Administration- Mr. Genis reported
- Measure EE was approved. Mr. Genis thanked ASB, Link crew, freshmen football team for disseminating information flyers to our community. Mr. Genis also sent an email to the teachers to thank them for support. He shared Linda Vargas was chairperson of the committee that supported “Measure EE”
- Naviance update- Counselors have been trained. Waiting for IT dept to approve upload of data.
- ELAC had their first meeting on Oct 28th 2010. ELAC voted to elect SSC to serve as the site leadership body for the EL program. Leadership representation will be in effect for 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years. Ms. Sarita Mota was voted to be the ELAC representative at SSC meetings and also DELAC representative.
- Character Counts update- Alexandra Rosales is the PLC lead for the program. Downey High school was visited to observe how they are running their program. There will be a Character counts presentation at the next SSC meeting.
- There will be a lock down drill on Nov 19th. Consultants will evaluate the drills. A score will be given and recommendations made for improvement if needed.
- Mr. Angelo shared after the administration report wanted to go on record that he is proud of ERHS administration. School is active, fun and focused. Such success starts with administration and teachers.

- a)CST REVIEW
- Dr. Ventura disseminated PowerPoint handout and reviewed CST scores with the school site council. Four goals were reviewed:
- ERHS Goal 1- Increase the number of 10th grade students scoring at or above proficient on the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) in both English Language Arts and Mathematics
- ERHS Goal 2- Increase the number of students prepared for post secondary education by increasing the number of students meeting the UC/CSU “A-G” Subject requirements and promoting higher expectations for students
- ERHS Goal 3- Increase the percentage of students demonstrating academic proficiency on the California Standards Test in Algebra I
- ERHS Goal 4- Increase the number of English Learners (EL) scoring at or above proficient on the CST in English Language Arts.

- b) BYLAWS REVIEW
- Bylaws were disseminated to all and reviewed. No changes were made. Bylaws coversheet will state they were last reviewed on November 3rd 2010.
Public Comment
- Mr. Renteria thanked Mr. Genis for the addressing “traffic situation” concern.
- Rachel Canchola /ERUSD board member, shared that she will encourage school board to use “Federal Stimulus” money to be used for teachers salaries. She shared now that Measure EE bond passed, she will suggest to school board a master plan be created with budget with input from community. An oversight bond committee would seek and ask for opinions. She sees there is a need for capitol improvements in the district.
- Mr. Genis shared that personally he would like Measure EE to be used to address areas that will benefit academically over athletically. Our school is in need of air conditioning, upgraded science labs and culinary arts department.
- Sarita Mota thanked ASB on behalf of the Parent Leadership Council, for allowing them to fundraise at the Homecoming dance. She also shared there would be an upcoming workshops. One on prevention of venereal diseases and another on nutrition and preventing childhood obesity. Childcare will be provided.
