  1.  CALL TO ORDER--Josie Cambero called the meeting to order at 5:06pm.

  1.  COMMITTEE REPORTS

        a)ASB Report

PAST:  Astronaut Jose Hernandez visited the Ranch January 12, inspiring students with his life story and encouraging them to follow their dreams.  Exchange students from China arrived January 19.  They have been following ASB students and Link Leaders around campus to their classes.  January 20 was El Rancho’s Community basketball night, where ERUSD elementary and middle school students were able to wear their school shirt to attend the game for free.  This past week El Rancho’s Advanced Drama department put on their fall play, The Visit.  The play was on Thursday through Saturday.

PRESENT:  Both El Rancho’s girls and boys varsity basketball beat La Serna last night.  During the halftime show, was the crowning of Winterbelle court.  This Saturday will be El Rancho’s Winter Formal themed “Enchanted Garden.”  The event will be held at Quiet Cannon in Montebello at 8pm.  Food and photo opportunities will be provided.

FUTURE:  Academic Decathlon will be competing in the Super Quiz this Saturday.  Future Don Night will fall on February 25, informing middle school students and parents what El Rancho has to offer, as well as encouraging them to attend.

        b)Special Education Report--During ERHS SIP Day on February 29, Director of Special Education, Ms. Aguirre and Program Specialist, Mrs. Pegadiotes will be presenting to the staff at ERHS.  All SPED staff has been set up with Bookshare accts to have access to reading materials to accommodate our students.  SPED department is starting to prepare for programming next year to continue to ensure that students are placed in the correct classes.  SPED staff has been involved in a lot of training this year:  PBIS, PBL, AVID, EADMS, APEX and BER.

        c)DAC/DELAC Reports--Parents are wondering what happens after parents bring up concerns because they never hear back.  Parent concerns that were addressed to Dr. Fuentes included:

-How are we addressing needs of students who are struggling?

-Safety in front of schools

-Will there be more chromebooks/technology at all levels?

-Parents are not getting enough information at the lower levels, websites are outdated

        

        d)Principal’s Report--A marketing company hired by district to create materials, update logos, create a promotional video and newspaper ad.  PD Series #3 focused on literacy and accessing the text.  On February 6, Academic Decathlon Super Quiz was hosted at ERHS.  Also, on February 6, a Cash for College Workshop was held.  ERHS has a new football coach, Adrian Medrano.  On February 9, there was a Meet the Coach event at 7pm in the ERHS Cafeteria.  Four ERHS students are being honored tonight at Ruth B. Shannon Center by the Boys and Girls Club of Whittier.  Dr. Fuentes requests that parents take a short LCAP survey.  Family Literacy Project: Graciela’s

Dream is going to begin.  WASA Committee is honoring Betty Martinez for her work as our Parent Liaison.

  1.  LEGAL REQUIREMENTS--None

PUBLIC COMMENTS--A Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) presentation was given by Judi Gollette.  The team includes 10 staff members: Gollette, Rosales, Espinosa, Middleton, Wasserman, Parras, Weir, Schneidman and Raygoza.  This team is meeting throughout the year to develop PBIS on our campus.
